Courtlands Fun Day

The Courtlands Fun Day, formerly the Sports Day, was revived in 2008 on a trial basis after a break of 25 years! Due to the great success and support, it was run again in 2009 and 2010 and it is hoped to continue as an annual event.

Since it’s revival, each year in mid June, an eager bunch of helpers wearing sunflower yellow t-shirts dubbed ‘Courtlands Crew’ set about arranging the event. It is, as the name suggests, a ‘Fun Day’ for all concerned with the park on Walnut Avenue decorated with bunting and a miniature tented village to house face-painters, raffle prizes and the music station. Races including egg & spoon, sack and sprinting are run for all ages young and old. There are football matches, penalty shoot-outs and lots more! All our residents are welcome, whether participating in the events or simply using the day as a chance to catch up with neighbours and friends for a chat! We recently added a Gourmet Burger stand and had an ice-cream vendor on site to create a carnival atmosphere.

The day culminates with our very own ‘Courtlands Got Talent’ and a raffle for prizes generously donated by local businesses and residents. The children are all winners with a goodie bag and medal for all! The adults can look on with pride as they watch their children, grandchildren & neighbours enjoy a truly ‘Fun Day’!

Hope to see you all this June! See our website for details.
