Courtlands Fun Day 2013

We would like to again say a big thank you to Dave & Aislinn Daly without whom the Funday would not take place. Despite a bad weather forecast and the wind and rain the Courtlands Fun Day went ahead on Saturday the 22nd of June. Just on the stroke of 3pm the sun made an appearance to brighten up proceedings. The bunting adorned the trees in the park and watched over numerous events, including face painting, running, basketball coaching and this year for the first time an obstacle course! Following last year’s successful event, this year again saw the return of the BBQ manned by our very own Fionan and Paula O’Connell and to add even more sense of community Margaret O’ Leary & Co. presented a Cake Stall with a wonderful array of cakes, breads, teas & coffees. These stands proved very popular and it seems that the ‘Taste of Courtlands’ was born and will be a necessary feature of further events!

The brave men of the Dublin Fire Brigade once again came along and thrilled some of the younger children with a chance to sit in the fire engine and operate the powerful water hoses! We were also joined by Formula Fun which is a brilliant go- kart attraction featuring small electric go-kart with blow up track.

The music and the colour on the day made for a memorable event with almost 170 people in attendance. The day concluded with our usual raffle for both children and adults which again proved very popular. Each child received a medal and goodie and some great memories to take home!
